Skype was developed by Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis in 2003. Microsoft later bought the property rights to the software. If you have Skype on your PC, you could communicate with other Skype users by instant messaging and by voice and video calls. You can use it as a tool for transferring files and video conferencing. It is a wonderful tool to use if you are operating any kind of people-related business.
First I will start with what Skype cannot be used for. It is not a good idea to use the Skype chat facility for prospecting and introducing your business to prospects. I have learned this from using Facebook instant chat facility. I spent hours trying to convince people about my opportunity. In the end, the approach turned people off. It was both time-consuming and tedious. It is better to brand yourself and let people who show interest in your business opportunity find you.
So can you use Skype for?
You can use it for building relationships. If you are building your Network Marketing business online and a lead has opted into your capture page, you can follow-up by finding out what your lead wants. You can find out your his/her interests, find out about their family and work.
If you are a leader in your business, you can use Skype to teach, coach and mentor your group. I was on Skype with my upline a few months ago and he was teaching me the new plan introduced into our business. He did his presentation on Skype. If you have a group what better way to coach them from a distance than by using the facilities Skype offers. And it is free! You do not have to call you to prospect on the phone and incur unnecessary phone charges. While video conferencing will never take the place of face-to-face contact, it is an excellent way to coach your group from a distance.
And how about file transfers? This is useful if there is valuable information you want to send to your business group about valuable information that has been recently released by your Network Marketing business. This could be a presentation about your Network Marketing business. You can do this by sending a copy of the document via file transfer to members of your business group.
In the fast-moving world of technology. Taking advantage of the tools that are freely available is a smart way to build one’s business. And it best to build your Network Marketing business in the most cost-effective way possible and minimise cost. Freely available tools like Skype allow you to do this.
